Appointment reminder texts for tutors

Tutors often prepare for a session, then wait at a screen or a table for a student who forgot. NoShowText texts the family 24 hours and 2 hours ahead and puts any reply on your own cell.

A day in the life with NoShowText

You block the hour and prepare materials, and a forgotten session costs both. Many tutoring clients are parents juggling pickups, and a quick text is the one message they will see between errands.

Here is how a normal day runs once NoShowText is connected. Twenty-four hours before each appointment, your client gets a text from “NoShowText for Brightside Tutoring”. They reply C to confirm, R to reschedule or X to cancel, or they type a few words of their own. Two hours before, a second, shorter text goes out unless they have already confirmed, in which case they get a gentler note instead. If a client texts something like “running 10 late”, we pass it straight to your own cell, so “we are running 10 late” lets you decide whether to shorten the session or wait. At 5 pm you get one short summary of tomorrow: who confirmed, who cancelled, who has not answered.

What your client sees

This is the real 24 hour text, with a sample business name:

NoShowText for Brightside Tutoring: Your appointment is Tue Nov 4 at 3:00 PM. Reply C to confirm, R to reschedule, X to cancel. Reply STOP to opt out.

It starts with the business name so the client knows who is writing. It has one action, three one-letter answers, and the opt-out line. Texts go out between 8 am and 9 pm in the client’s time zone, never in the middle of the night.

Privacy for tutors

The number you text is usually a parent’s, so the message never includes a child’s name, grades or the subject. It carries your business name, a day and a time. Add the consent sentence to your booking form so the parent agrees to the texts before the first one arrives.

Setup in five minutes

Connect Calendly or Google Calendar, tell us where the parent’s mobile number is in the booking, and add one consent sentence to your booking form. Both Google Calendar and Calendly work today. Nothing in your calendar is changed. After you connect, you get one text on your own phone saying you are live, and from then on every new booking is picked up on its own. If you ever need a quiet week, text PAUSE and reminders stop until you text RESUME, while client replies still reach you. A short settings page lets you set your business name, time zone, and the booking link clients get when they ask to reschedule.

Price

$39 a month, flat. There is a 14-day free trial, a card is needed up front, and you can cancel any time from the billing portal. There is no per-text cap.

Questions

Can I use it for online sessions?

Yes. The reminder only holds a day and a time, so it works the same for video and in-person sessions.

Who gets the text, the student or the parent?

Whichever mobile number is in the booking. Most tutors use the parent's.

Does Calendly already do this?

Calendly sends one-way texts, caps them at 250 a seat a month, and its help page says it does not deliver client replies. NoShowText has no cap and sends replies to you.

Can I answer a parent's question by text?

Yes. Reply R and the number of the relay, then your words, and the family gets them from the same number.
